Lisbon - a city to remember

This tour will take you to discover some of the most beautiful places that Lisbon has to offer. Our first stop is in the historical quarter of Belém. Once a simple fishermen village, it was from here that in the 16th century the Portuguese navigators set sail to discover Brazil and the sea-route to India. A visit to this quarter will help you to imagine how looked like one of the richest cities of the world, in the 16th century. The Jeronimos Monastery and the Tower of Belém were built on those glorious times and are both classified as World Heritage Sites. Nearby, you will not want to miss the famous Pastéis de Belém, a kind of custard tart whose recipe is a very well kept secret, known only by those who work in the pastry.
If you choose the Full Day option, it is now time to visit the National Coach Museum. This museum is housed in the building of the former Royal Riding School and exhibits a collection of coaches from the 17th up to the 19th century. After this visit, we will then taste the traditional Portuguese cuisine at the restaurant Botequim do Rei (or similar). The afternoon is reserved for a walking tour. From Rossio square, we will walk up to the Cathedral to visit the oldest church of Lisbon. After that, it is time to know the picturesque and famous quarter of Alfama.
If you choose the Half Day option, we follow direct to Alfama quarter. Known for its narrow streets and blind alleys, Alfama is considered to be the place where Fado, the traditional song of Lisbon, was born. And there is no better place to fully understand the soul of this city. Enjoy!
